There will be no curbside recycling on James Island on Monday. The schedule will resume on Tuesday. The James Island Public Service District will not be picking up solid waste in the Town on Monday either because the Bees Ferry Landfill will be closed and the JIPSD Signal Point Road facility cannot be accessed due to flooding.

Following Charleston County's move to OPCON 1, the Town of James Island is also operating at OPCON 1 and continuing to monitor the threat of severe flooding on James Island. Roads are draining well now. However, high tide is at 2 pm today and will be higher than normal. The rain is moving North, however we are expected to receive more rain throughout tomorrow. Please limit your travel and stay clear of floodwaters. Sandbags are available at the County's Public Works facility at 615 Riverland Drive. We are working on having some available here at Town Hall. Please keep checking the Town's social media accounts for continuous updates.

Wastewater systems around the tri-county area including our James Island PSD are urging folks to reduce their water/wastewater usage as much as possible. Systems are unable to handle this rain amount. Stay away from floodwaters due to possible pollution by wastewater overflow.
