NEWS RELEASE - TROPICAL STORM DORIAN, UPDATE #2 

The Town of James Island continues to monitor the development of Tropical Storm Dorian.

Here are some key issues:

  • Tropical Storm Dorian is approximately 1,500 miles from the South Carolina coastline.
  • Tropical Storm Dorian is moving northwestward at just under 13 mph.
  • Tropical Storm Dorian will likely strengthen over the next 2 days, reaching hurricane strength.
  • It is still too early to determine what if any impacts Dorian will have on South Carolina.
  • The National Hurricane Center’s confidence in both the long term forecast track as well as the intensity forecast remains low.

The Town of James Island will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Dorian and highly advises that you do the same, making necessary preparations now to respond in the event Tropical Storm Dorian becomes a threat to South Carolina.

NEWS RELEASE – TROPICAL STORM DORIAN

Update #1

August 26, 2019

The Town of James Island continues to monitor the development of Tropical Storm Dorian.

Here are some key issues:

  • Tropical Storm Dorian is approximately 2,000 miles SE of the South Carolina coastline.
  • Tropical Storm Dorian is moving westward at just over 14 mph.
  • Tropical Storm Dorian should turn west/northwestward today and then northwestward on Wednesday.
  • Tropical Storm Dorian is likely to strengthen over the next few days, possibly reaching hurricane strength by Tuesday as the storm passes over the eastern Caribbean Sea.
  • It is still too early to determine what if any impacts Dorian will have on South Carolina.
  • The Town of James island will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Dorian and advises that you do the same, making necessary preparations now to respond in the event Tropical Storm Dorian becomes a threat to South Carolina.

Neighborhood Council Meeting Reminder 

Join us tonight for a special program at our Neighborhood Council meeting at 7 p.m. Charleston County Sheriff's Deputies and City Police representatives will be on hand to discuss recent crime and give updates. We will also discuss local Crime Watch activities and how you can get involved.

This meeting will be held at the Town Hall, 1122 Dills Bluff Road, James Island, SC  29412 (843) 795-4141.
