The Town of James Island is closely monitoring Hurricane Florence and is currently operating at OPCON level 1.

The Town participated in an Emergency Management call today with Charleston County and State emergency officials. However, the Governor has not yet lifted the mandatory evacuation order and made a decision on re-entry. Please continue to be guarded. There is still a 20% change of tropical storm force winds for our area and localized flooding.
Please note that bus pickup stops for James Island to take to open shelters has ceased and two shelters outside of Charleston County are open at this time including Flower Towne Elementary, 20 King Charles Circle, Summerville and Newington Elementary at 10 King Charles Circle, Summerville.
Sandbag operations have ceased. The Town issued 12,000 sandbags since Saturday.
