Dominion Energy Partners with James Island, City to Host Vegetation Management Workshop

Dominion Drop-in Workshop

As part of Dominion's five-year cycle to maintain the safety, resiliency and reliability of the electric system, Dominion Energy will host a public workshop to safeguard overhead distribution lines from hazardous vegetation throughout parts of James Island and surrounding areas. Work is scheduled to begin in January.

The Workshop will be held on Wednesday, January 24, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the James Island Town Hall, 1122 Dills Bluff Road. Trees that have grown too close to overhead power lines are both a fire hazard and an issue of employee and public safety. Trees and tree limbs represent the number one reason for power outages on our system.

The project which will extend across nearly 70 miles of overhead distribution lines throughout parts of the Town of James Island, the City of Charleston, the James Island Public Service District and other areas of Charleston County including some areas of Johns Island is set to begin in February. Property owners will be notified by mail or email approximately two weeks prior to the start of trimming in their area.

To help residents better understand the scope of the project, oversized maps marking the streets were work is planned will be on display. The workshop will be set up in informational stations to allow interested residents the opportunity to drop in at their convenience.
