The Town of James Island remains at OPCON 1 on Saturday, October 8th. Recovery from Hurricane Matthew has begun.
A state of emergency remains in effect for the Town of James Island. There will be a curfew tonight starting at 8 PM. The curfew will end at 8 AM, Sunday, October 9.
Many trees are down on James Island and they continue to fall. Power lines are down across the Island. Many roads are blocked. Please heed Governor Haley's message not to return yet. Give emergency crews time to clear roads and restore power. SCE&G crews have not been released to begin repairs as of Saturday afternoon.
The Town of James Island Municipal Operations Center (MEOC) is in Greenwood, South Carolina. Town Hall is closed.

James Island incident commander, Chief Seabolt, reports that the JIPSD Fire Service answering calls and JIPSD crews are working to clear our roads.

It's also important not to forget special items for children, such as diapers, formula and toys, and other items for family members who have unique needs
