BEWARE FEMA SCAMS

From the Post and Courier:

Charleston city officials are warning residents to beware FEMA scams.

Residents have reported being approached by people claiming to be FEMA adjustors, according to the city. FEMA officials, however, have said that they are not part of their personnel.

Residents approached are urged to check identification and ask for a claim number that should match one they received when they applied for FEMA assistance. FEMA teams will never ask for money, according to the city.
