Easter Meals bring holiday cheer to 45 James Island Families

Easter meals bring holiday cheer to 45 James Island families

Dozens of James Island families will receive a helping hand this Easter as the Town’s Family Food Drive rolls out today, delivering full holiday meals to 45 local households in need.

Starting at 1:30 p.m. from the Sol Legare Community Center (1964 Sol Legare Road), volunteers will begin distributing meal packages filled with Easter favorites—including ham, vegetables, macaroni and cheese, and dessert—ensuring families can gather around a festive table.

Now in its second year, the effort is spearheaded by Town Councilwoman Cynthia Mignano, whose personal commitment has helped turn the drive into such a success.

“When I was growing up, neighbors held out a hand to our family when we needed it,” Mignano said. “That’s what a community like ours is all about. It just makes my heart happy to be able to do this.”

Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies, Town officials, and a team of local volunteers will assist in delivering the meals. The event is made possible through the generosity of community donors, including Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., and many others.
