The Harbor View Road Improvements project will not be finished by December 31st as previously expected. The revised completion will be moved to late March/early April next year. While this is not the news we wanted to send out just before the holidays, crews have made significant progress recently. The contractor has installed the new traffic configuration of the roundabout, placed more than 18,000 feet of drainage pipe, 12,000 feet of sidewalk and curb & gutter, over 100 concrete driveways and completed major utility relocations. Moving forward, the next steps will be completing the remaining drainage, sidewalk and curb & gutter work. Final activities will include asphalt paving, activation of traffic signals, conversion of North Shore into a right-in right-out and landscaping the length of the project.
We've worked through design changes and weather issues since the project kicked off in September, 2014. Charleston County staff appreciates the patience of residents and leaders in the community and we look forward to wrapping up this project as soon as possible.
