Hurricane Matthew is currently at Category 4 with winds sustained at 140 mph and is moving west at 2 mph. Hurricane force wind extend 30 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend out 205 miles.
Following Charleston County's move to OPCON 4 earlier today, the Town of James Island is also moving to OPCON 4 as we are under heightened awareness.
The Town will continue to monitor the situation and send out regular updates as more information becomes available.
