NEWS RELEASE - HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE #11

The Town of James Island will move to OPCON 5 today at 12:00 noon as we work through the recovery from Hurricane Irma and resume normal operations.

Sandbag Return: 871 Ft Johnson Rd. In order to seek FEMA reimbursement, we are asking residents to return their sandbags to the James Island Youth Soccer Club fields at 871 Ft. Johnson Rd by Wednesday evening, September 20th. Following a storm, sandbags are considered contaminated with stormwater and in order for agencies to be reimbursed, they have to be properly disposed of by the jurisdictions. The Town of James Island and the City of Charleston together distributed over 12,000 sandbags to Island residents.

Reports of flooding: If you have experienced flooding in and around your home, and think it may be due to clogged storm drains or other stormwater-related issues, you can notify the Town of James Island at 843-795-4141, email at publicworks@jamesislandsc.us or by filling out a Work Order request at http://www.jamesislandsc.us/work-order-request.
