
NEWS RELEASE – TROPICAL STORM DORIAN

The Town of James Island continues to monitor the development of Tropical Storm Dorian.
Here are some key issues:
- Tropical Storm Dorian is approximately 2,000 miles SE of the South Carolina coastline.
- Tropical Storm Dorian is moving westward at just over 14 mph.
- Tropical Storm Dorian should turn west/northwestward today and then northwestward on Wednesday.
- Tropical Storm Dorian is likely to strengthen over the next few days, possibly reaching hurricane strength by Tuesday as the storm passes over the eastern Caribbean Sea.
- It is still too early to determine what if any impacts Dorian will have on South Carolina.
- The Town of James island will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Dorian and advises that you do the same, making necessary preparations now to respond in the event Tropical Storm Dorian becomes a threat to South Carolina.
