The Town of James Island has resumed normal operations, closed its Municipal Emergency Operations Center (MEOC), and returned to OPCON 5. While Charleston County has moved to OPCON 1 and is monitoring the flood threat to rivers across Charleston County, the threat of any more flash flooding to James Island is currently very low.
The Charleston County Building Services Damage Assessment Team is in the process of evaluating damage to structures on James Island. If you have questions or concerns about your property, contact Charleston County Building Services Department at 843.202.6930. Early registration is open for the State of South Carolina for flood damage, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Currently, Charleston, County is on the list of eligible counties for federal declaration for Individual Assistance. Please visit the FEMA website listed below and apply online to start your application. When asked to choose a disaster, select Disaster has occurred, but not in the list. You may also call the phone number below.
Those without Internet access, the Charleston County Public Library on Camp Road has computers with Internet access that may be utilized.
