Town offering free sandbags in advance of Hurricane Milton

Town of James Island officials are closely monitoring Hurricane Milton in conjunction with Charleston County emergency management officials. Milton is currently projected to bring moderate winds and rain to the Charleston area starting Wednesday night, with tidal flooding expected in some low-lying areas.

To help mitigate that issue, the Town will have a limited supply of free sand and bags available at James Island Town Hall, 1122 Dills Bluff Road, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9 for residents to build their own sandbags. Staff will be on-site to provide assistance if needed.

Additional information: For the most accurate and up-to-date weather forecasts, residents should stay tuned to the National Hurricane Center and National Weather Service Charleston websites, as well as local media and the SC Emergency Manager app.
