Carol S. Jacobsen--Rest In Peace

Longtime Town of James Island citizen, Carol S. Jacobsen, passed away last week. Her many contributions to our community will be greatly missed. She worked for the formation of the Town over the many years, but perhaps she is best known for her long struggle to preserve and protect McCleod Plantation. As a co-founder, leader, and key activist of the Friends of McCleod, she was instrumental in the final disposition of this historical landmark, It is now part of the Charleston County Parks and Recreation system and open to the public. After years of neglect, the renovation has been remarkable. We all can be happy that she lived to be able to see her dream come true. Please visit McCleod Plantation, and when you do, think of Carol.
