With the effects of Tropical Storm Debby being felt throughout the area, the Town remains at OPCON ONE, meaning that an emergency is imminent or occurring, the Town's Municipal Emergency Operations Center is open and fully activated, and all personnel are activated or available for activation. Town officials remain in close contact with County Emergency Management and other regional and state partners.
James Island officials and staff conducted windshield assessments throughout the town after sun-up and are working with partners to clear downed trees, repair broken lines and close flooded streets as necessary.
Currently, the following roads in Town are closed due to flooding:
- Chandler Street
- Pauline Ave.
- Winborn Dr. between Quail Dr. and Dill's Bluff Rd.
Mayor Brook Lyon said, "Between flooded streets and downed trees and powerlines, conditions on the roads are treacherous. Residents should heed the advice of our first responders and stay home throughout this storm if at all possible."
