The Town of James Island is opening the process for its ATAX funding for FY 2024-2025 and accepting applications from organizations wishing to receive grants from the 2% state accommodations tax fund.
The Town of James Island Accommodations Tax Committee is an advisory committee that advises Town Council on the expenditure of local accommodations tax funds for the purpose of promoting tourism, the arts, and cultural affairs in the Town.
Application Deadline: The ATAX grant application must be submitted electronically to Becky Heath, Finance Director, at bheath@jamesislandsc.us no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Eligible Projects include advertising and promotion, promotion of the arts and cultural events for the attraction of tourists, construction, maintenance, and operations of facilities for civic and cultural events, public facilities and visitor centers.
Applications received by the deadline will be reviewed by the Accommodations Tax Committee for compliance with state law guidelines to determine eligibility. The applicants passing the initial review will be asked to make a presentation to the ATAX Committee at its meeting on January 8, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at the James Island Town Hall, 1122 Dills Bluff Road, James Island. The ATAX Committee will make grant award recommendations to the James Island Council.
