MISSION
The mission of the Tree Awards of the Town of James Island is to increase public awareness and appreciation of James Island's beautiful and valuable trees. It is important to recognize individuals, organizations and businesses that promote tree stewardship on James Island. This mission will be accomplished through two award mechanisms:

  • Canopy of Distinction Award- A recognition component that seeks to identify and award outstanding Trees on James Island. Trees are nominated by the Town of James Island Tree Advisory Council with the approval of the tree’s owner.

  • Tree Steward Award- A recognition of an individual, organization or business that exemplifies the appreciation of James Island’s beautiful and valuable trees. These members of the James Island community have displayed exceptional tree stewardship and are deserving of recognition.  Nominations are made by the Town of James Island Tree Advisory Council.
