Hurricane Dorian Update #5 Aug 31, 2019

The State of South Carolina has issued a State of Emergency for South Carolina so that preparations for possible evacuations can be made if the threat of impact remains. The Town of James Island participated in a Tri-County Conference call at 12:30 p.m. with Charleston County. Key Messages

• The National Hurricane Center is calling for additional intensification, making Dorian an extremely dangerous major Hurricane.

• There forecast track beyond the next 48 hours is very difficult to determine.

• The potential for Hurricane Dorian to have significant impacts on South Carolina remains.

• The Emergency Management Department will continue will Continue to Monitor Hurricane Dorian and advises that you do the same, making
necessary preparations now to respond in the event Tropical Storm Dorian becomes a threat to South Carolina.

• The Town of James Island advises that you make necessary preparations now to respond in the event Hurricane Dorian becomes a threat to South Carolina. We are likely to see coastal flooding and heavy rains as a result by the first to middle of next week.

The Town is not issuing sandbags at this time. However, we are readying supplies in case they are needed and will notify the public if and when sandbag operations begin.
