WINTER WEATHER

The Town of James Island has been advised by Charleston County EMD, on the upcoming winter weather this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service- Charleston, low pressure will track off the coast tonight into Saturday as arctic high pressure builds from the northeast. A brief period of wintry precipitation is still possible (very low percentage) Saturday morning as colder air moves into the area before precipitation ends during the afternoon. We could see .5-1 inch of rain during this time. As temperatures drop below freezing Saturday night there is a risk of black ice as lingering water on roads freezes. The very cold arctic air and breezy conditions could produce low wind chill values Sunday and Monday mornings.

Charleston County and the Town of James Island remains at an OPCON 5, but will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if there are any changes. Please monitor the local weather and review your winter weather plans. Any further new releases on the winter weather will be on our website at www.jamesislandsc.us/news.
