Charleston County to Host Free Community Shredding Event

Charleston County Government is offering citizens an opportunity to shred documents for free on April 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Public Services Building located at 4045 Bridge View Drive in North Charleston.

According to the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC), shredding documents with personal information can help minimize the risk of becoming the victim of identity theft. Experts suggest shredding any documents with personal information like account numbers, social security numbers and date of birth. In addition, a recent study found more than 13 million consumers fell victim to identity theft fraud in 2015.
