The contract for construction of the sidewalk on Jerdone Street and Stiles Drive (which will connect the Fort Johnson Sidewalk to the Mikell Drive Sidewalk), has been awarded and construction is scheduled to begin next week when the Notice to Proceed is issued.
There will be a couple weeks of preliminary activity; such as site marking, utility location and location photography while Anson Construction ramps up to break ground. The project will start at Mikell Drive and Stiles Drive and end at Jerdone and Fort Johnson. Crews will be working to complete the project before school begins, weather and other conditions permitting.
Charleston County Transportation Development is spearheading this project for the Town of James Island, and we thank them for their expertise and assistance. Letters to residents along the route will be hand-delivered in the next few days.
