Town Administrator Position

The Town of James Island is seeking qualified and experienced candidates to submit resumes for the position of Town Administrator. James Island is a predominately residential community with a population of approximately 12,000 in the Charleston, SC area. Our Town’s annual fiscal budget is approximately 7 million including ARPA funds. We have 12 full-time and three part-time employees. Town services include Public Works, Planning, Code Enforcement, Finance, Business Licensing, Administration and Cultural Events. Other services are provided by Charleston County and the James Island Public Service District.

Job duties include but are not limited to: assisting the Mayor, plan, organize and direct administrative activities of the Town, prepare reports and bring recommendations regarding the functions, policies, ordinances and activities of the Town, assist the Mayor in preparing and monitoring a comprehensive annual operating budget and capital improvement plan for consideration by Council and representing the Town responsibly in all matters.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business or related field (master’s degree preferred) or at least 5 years related experience as Town Administrator/Town Manager. Salary commensurate with experience.
